Southwest Airlines problems

Under investment in their systems. Problem like this start at the top.

Underinvestment
But Southwest (LUV) also hurt itself with an aggressive schedule and by underinvesting in its operations.

Southwest’s schedule includes shorter flights with tighter turnaround times, which are causing some of the problems, Kathleen Bangs, a FlightAware spokesperson, told CNN.

“Those turnaround times bog things down,” Bangs said.

Stranded customers have been unable to get through to Southwest’s customer service lines to rebook flights or find lost baggage.

Employees also said they have not been able to communicate with the airline, the president of the union that represents Southwest’s flight attendants told CNN Monday.

Dinner's star tonight

After eating up way to much on Christmas eave I went with something simple to go with the pumpkin cheese cake desert left overs.

This caramelized onion and fried spec on a Crème Fraiche with Emmenthaler. The only thing that was not a left over was the crust.

Season's Greetings to All DU'ers

Hallo from Munich. It is now Christmas time in most of Germany. Many shops closed at noon, grocery stores are now closed until Tuesday. At least in Bayern, the 26th is also a holiday. The only things open will be gas stations and some restaurants mostly near the highways. Even the bakeries are closing up. There will be some open near the big train stations. Most people get to be home for the holidays with their families.
Today we are having Christmas dinner with one of our chosen German friends. Christmas dinner is always on the 24th and that is when presents are unwrapped. It tends to be a less pressure Christmas than we're used to in the States. Not having to deal with young children helps with that also.
Tomorrow our daughter gets on a plan back to SF. She will have a double Christmas dinner this year. Our plan to get to to be able to stay hit a snag and she has to leave Germany for 6 months. Getting a visa to work is harder if you don't have a degree. But she has worked hard and is now reasonably fluent in German. I've been here 7 years and she can now speak circles around me. Oh, to have younger brain synapses.
I'm wishing all of you a good year going forward. Best wishes for how ever you celebrate this time of year. Hope springs eternal that things can get better and we can help.
Hoping the very best for everyone.
Frohe Weihnachten!

White Christmas coming?

We are finally getting snow in Munich. The kids are happy. They have been out on the local park hill for the last 3 days. they bring their own sleds to school for the recesses. Our dog prefers this to rain, even though he hates his coat.
Now I have to put on the spiked winter tires on my bike. My wife won't let me ride without them now.

Kindergarten children getting fresh air. Frisch Luft.

If you look hard you can see a bike track.

From our balcony.

What to do? My computer is buggy

Had a visitor stop by avoiding the cold and snow.

Not sure where he went now but probably not outside where it is freezing and there are hungry birds who visit our feeder.

Showing good taste by reading DU.

A few from Christmasmarkts

Freezing cold visit to the Markts. Gluhwein and Eirpunsch helped
The normal lights on the front of the Rathaus weren't on because we are saving electricity.
Lots of people out at this evening.
