pent-up supply could soon ravage home prices.

Why ‘the next big shoe to drop’ in the U.S. economy could hit by July

---------

“This is supposed to be the spring selling season, and new listings are supposed to surge,” Richter explained in a post. “But sellers aren’t interested in having potentially infected people traipsing through their home; and they know that buyers are woefully absent, and it doesn’t make that much sense to list the home because previously listed homes are still languishing on the market.”

Here’s a chart of what the trend typically looks like vs. the current reality:

According to Thomas Stone, a Sonoma Country realtor quoted on the Wolf Street blog, there’s a very rough road ahead in the housing sector due to falling appraisals, a trickier loan market and a glut of vacation rentals that owners need to shed.

“The next big shoe to drop will be when appraisers call a declining market, probably in August but perhaps as early as July,” he said. “And this bleeds into the difficulties of getting a mortgage.”

Florida man "I'll kick your [butt] if you say another word." victim replied "another word"

Florida man attacks victim who didn’t thank him for holding open door to liquor store, deputies say

According to deputies, the attack stemmed from the suspect getting upset that the victim didn’t thank him for holding the door open. The victim, who is seen in video released by the sheriff’s office wearing a tan-colored hat, told deputies he walked into the liquor store while the suspect held the door open.

The suspect, who is seen wearing a black and gray shirt and a black hat, then reportedly asked, “you don’t say ‘thank you’ to people who hold the door open for you?” The victim said he responded, saying “thank you.”

“But apparently that wasn’t enough,” Polk County Sheriff Grady Judd said. “Because our now suspect, who was originally a gentleman, started jawing back and forth. That’s a Southern vernacular for talking back to each other.”

The two men are seen in the video walking to different parts of the liquor store after the initial confrontation. But deputies say the victim claims the suspect then continued to “express his anger” from another aisle.

According to the victim, the suspect told him, “I’ll kick your [butt] if you say another word.” The victim told deputies he replied by saying, “another word.”

That’s when deputies say the suspect quickly approached the victim and started attacking.

“The previous Southern gentleman who held the door open who’s now the suspect promptly was good for his word,” Sheriff Judd said. “Because he walked around the aisle and started beating him up.”

owner of empty house associated with Arbery shooting might never move in

https://www.nbcnews.com/news/us-news/owner-empty-house-ahmaud-arbery-allegedly-entered-shooting-might-not-n1205191

Larry English had long dreamed of owning a waterfront home. It was on his bucket list. He wanted easy access to fish and boat and a peaceful distraction from the stress of his heart-related illness.

His dream home is under construction in Brunswick, Georgia. But English said it is unlikely that he and his family will ever move in once it is complete.

"Now, it's honestly not safe," said his attorney, Elizabeth Graddy. "It's supposed to be a place for comfort and peace. And now, it will be forever associated with this tragedy."

English, 50, owns the house that Ahmaud Arbery, a 25-year-old black man, is purported to have entered before he was shot and killed on Feb. 23 by two white men.

Gregory McMichael, 64, and Travis McMichael, 34, were arrested and charged Thursday with murder and aggravated assault — two days after a graphic video of the shooting became public. The video thrust the case into the national spotlight, prompting widespread outrage and raising concerns about why it took law enforcement officials more than two months to make arrests.

English has received death threats since the arrests, his attorney said in an interview Monday night, speaking on behalf of her client. She said English and his wife are "heartsick" for Arbery's parents.

Video from the day of Arbery's death, obtained by The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, shows a black man wearing a T-shirt and shorts walking up to a house under construction, entering and then leaving shortly after. Lawyers representing Arbery's family said in a statement Saturday that the security camera video proves Arbery did nothing wrong.

"Ahmaud did not take anything from the construction site," the family's lawyers said in a statement. "He did not cause any damage to the property. He remained for a brief period of time and was not instructed by anyone to leave but rather left on his own accord to continue his jog. Ahmaud's actions at this empty home under construction were in no way a felony under Georgia law."

The Georgia Bureau of Investigation said it was reviewing the video but added that it had seen it before arresting and charging Gregory and Travis McMichael. The McMichaels could not be reached for comment.

In the months before February, a motion-activated camera had captured videos of someone inside the construction site a handful of times, Graddy said. The first time, English called a non-emergency police number and reported the unauthorized entry, Graddy said.

----

"He never used the word 'burglary,'" she said, adding that nothing has ever been stolen from or damaged at the property. "My client did not want people to come on to the property because it's just not safe."

English never shared any of this information with the McMichaels, whom he did not even know, according to his attorney.

"Even if there had been a robbery, however, the English family would not have wanted a vigilante response," Graddy said. "They would have entrusted the matter to law enforcement authorities."

In powerful TikTok commentary on Ahmaud Arbery shooting, white man carries TV while running

A 34-year-old former white pastor ran 2.23 miles in his Florida neighborhood to make a strong statement about the death of 25-year-old Georgia resident Ahmaud Arbery.

On May 8, the day of Arbery’s birthday, Richard Demsick took to TikTok to share a video of himself running while carrying a flat-screen TV on his shoulder.

“Hey guys, just going on a leisurely jog here in the South, in the suburb, carrying a TV and perfectly safe,” he says. “I wonder why that is. I run with Ahmaud.”

Woman mauled to death by her french bulldog..a little one

https://wgntv.com/chicago-news/suburban-woman-mauled-to-death-by-her-french-bulldog/

INGLESIDE, Ill. — A Chicago area woman was apparently mauled to death inside her home by her pet dog over the weekend.

Lisa Urso, 52, was found in the back of her Ingleside home by a friend Saturday evening. Lake County Coroner Dr. Howard Cooper said she had been attacked by her French bulldog.

The dog was recently adopted by Urso, and had originally been bred to fight, Cooper said.

“It (injury) wasn’t the neck, most were in her legs and arms,” Cooper said. “Some on her torso as well. Just a lot of bites. A lot of scratching. I hate to say it but unfortunately, it was a vicious attack.”

Cooper said the attack started inside the home she shares with her boyfriend who, according to Cooper, was also recently attacked by the same dog.

Urso had gone to animal control to get the dog back.

“You don’t really think about it happening with a smaller dog breed, but we forget animals can be powerful,” Cooper said. “This animal has a lot of jaw strength.”

More than 6 in 10 Americans do not trust the information about the coronavirus from Trump

A poll number that should scare President Trump

More than 6 in 10 Americans do not trust the information about the coronavirus that they get from President Donald Trump, according to a new CNN national poll.

That's an absolutely remarkable finding that speaks not just to Trump's trust deficit in dealing with this global pandemic but the broader impact of his assault on truth during his first 3+ years in office.

(Trump had said more than 18,000 false or misleading things during his first 1,170 days in office -- an average of 15 claims a day -- according to The Washington Post.)

A significant majority of Americans -- including 94% of Democrats, 66% of independents and even 14% of Republicans -- do not believe that the leader of the country is shooting them straight on the central issue facing the country and the world, which has to be concerning for the President and his team.
