Demovictory9's Journalmajor road rage, broke window and woman's arm with his bare hands
A Redmond man was arraigned Monday on assault and other charges in a Friday night road range incident that injured two women near a southwest Bend roundabout.
Jay Allen Barbeau, 49, appeared before Deschutes County Circuit Judge Michael Adler on the district attorneys initial charges of three counts of second-degree assault and single counts of first-degree criminal mischief and reckless driving.
The judge raised Barbeau's bail from the initial $70,000 to $200,000 and ordered him to have no contact with the two victims. Hes due back in court June 11 for arraignment on an expected indictment.
Officers and Bend Fire medics were dispatched shortly after 8 p.m. Friday to the area of the roundabout at Brookswood Boulevard and Reed Market Road on a report of a vehicle-pedestrian crash, Sgt. Todd Guthrie said.
Officers arrived to find two women lying on the ground injured and a man apparently trying to leave the scene, Guthrie said.
there are instances of road rage, and then instances of road RAGE. What cops say happened in Oregon on Friday night falls into the latter category. The Oregonian and Bulletin report Megan Stackhouse and her partner, Lucinda Mann, were slowly making their way out of a congested scene at a carnival in Bend around 8pm and "squeezed" in front of a truck amidst the heavy traffic. Stackhouse says the truck began following them so closely that she was unable to see its headlights. After a few blocks of the truck riding her tail, Stackhouse, 34, pulled to the side at a roundabout so the truck could passand says driver Jay Allen Barbeau instead went nuts. The women say he broke their car's left tail light and rear window with his bare hands and then approached the driver's side door.
Police say he grabbed Stackhouse's arm through the open window and twisted it until it broke. "It was visibly broken," Stackhouse says of the compound fracture, and she alleges Barbeau didn't end there but began punching her face, causing Mann, 26, to get out of the car and try to stop the 245-pound man. Instead, she says the 49-year-old gave her a concussion by slamming her into the concrete. He was arrested as he allegedly tried to flee the scene, was treated for injuries to his hand, and appeared in court Monday on charges of assault, criminal mischief, and reckless driving. Stackhouse says her right radius required pins, screws, and plates to repair. KTVZ reports Barbeau will next be in court June 11.

Ex-Employee Says NASA Full of 'Fear and Anxiety' Since Trump Took Office
They have stopped promoting or emphasizing climate science communication, they have minimized it. People inside the agency are concerned Trump will cut climate science funding. There is a fear and anxiety there and the outcome has been chaos.
Tenenbaum said that around a month after Trumps inauguration last year an arduous review process was put in place over every blog post, Facebook post and tweet that she put out from NASAs Jet Propulsion Laboratory in California.
I was told verbally by media relations it was because with Trump as president, climate change is now a sensitive subject, she said. There was confusion about what to do now we have a president who doesnt believe in climate change. Everyone was scrambling. It was chaos.
Planned blogposts on coal plants being turned into solar plants, reasons to be positive about NASA and an interview with Gavin Schmidt, a senior NASA climate scientist, were all either halted or scrapped due to interference from career staff nervous about provoking the new administration, according to Tenenbaum.
Figures show there has been a notable decline in NASAs output of climate information since the election of the Trump administration. During 2016, NASA posted frequently on its climate change Facebook page, peaking at 122 posts during August of that year, according to CrowdTangle.
There were 53 Facebook posts in January 2017, the month of Trumps inauguration, and NASA hasnt come close to this total since, posting 21 times this March and 31 times in April.
This drop off in posts has resulted in dwindling interactions with the public on Facebook. During January 2017 there were more than 61,700 interactionsdefined as likes, comments and shareson the climate page. This has slumped dramatically since then, totaling just 7,000 in April. In April 2016, under the Obama administration, there were more than 100,000 interactions.

rationalwiki - does a good job of summing up Dennis Prager
https://rationalwiki.org/wiki/Dennis_PragerDennis Prager is a neoconservative radio host, professional tone troll, and conspiracy theorist who believes that the United States is a Christian nation, and that it's under attack from "secular leftists" who control the media, universities, public education system, and other institutions. Despite being a fairly extreme conservative, to the point of being a weekly WND columnist, he does moderate on certain issues such as abortion and, to his credit, he does seem to know quite a bit about religion and aspects of United States history.
Unfortunately, for every reasonable position he has he seems to say at least ten things that are either blatant lies or mind-fuckingly bizarre. He is also notable for having one of the worst cases of psychological projection ever, even by wingnut standards and for possibly being a worse offender of Jonanism than Jonah Goldberg himself. He is well known for his opposition to "the left" allowing their "feelings" to get in the way of policy, but when policy hurts his "feelings" he loses his freakin' mind. Hmm
As of recently he's been focusing far more on pushing anti-environmentalism than usual, mainly through global warming denialism ("leftist hysteria" apparently) and myths around DDT bans,[2][3] though he's even gone into some weird "Environmentalism is replacing God" (paraphrasing) territory.[4] However he is rarely countered, largely due to the fact that nobody to the left of radical right can take him seriously any more anyway,[5] though he has a small group of very devoted fans.
----
Prager "University"
He has also started his own non-profit online program called Prager University. Keeping up with his paranoia around universities turning students into secular bisexual leftists, the "university" has the totally not bizarre motto "Undoing the damage of the University five minutes at a time." Since it doesn't offer degrees, the "University" does not even rise to the level of diploma mill. It posts YouTube videos on a regular basis through its YouTube channel, PragerU.[41]
Prager "University" actually presents history and politics from a hard-right point of view. This includes rampant New Deal denialism, promotion of the Laffer curve, Europhobia, and an off the walls weird interpretation of liberalism.[42] The channel also promotes zionist pro-Israeli politics, claiming the IDF to be the "World's Most Moral Army",[43] and promotes fossil fuels as being "the greenest energy".[44][45] It has called wealth income inequality "good".[46] In a multitude of ill-informed videos, it furthermore espouses climate change denialism[47][48], militarism[49] and American exceptionalism,[50][51] and probably many more nutty reactionary beliefs.
Guest hosts on the site include Jonah Goldberg and Amity Shlaes.
Prager also has a video explaining reasons marriage is healthy to a couple for non-legal reasons, which is kind of dickish given his position on gay marriage.[52]
Nevertheless, the series does offer a few worthwhile videos, such as Greenpeace founder Patrick Moore criticizing the extremist and anti-scientific positions the organisation has been known to adopt[53] and Colonel Ty Seidule of the US Military Academy at West Point debunking neo-Confederate apologetics for the Civil War.[54]
Jared Kushner's Father Rips Ethics Watchdogs As 'Jerks' Who Can't Get A 'Real Job'
Jared Kushners Father Rips Ethics Watchdogs As Jerks Who Cant Get A Real Job
All they want to do is assure that poor, not successful people go into government.
Jared Kushners father, real estate magnate Charles Kushner, slammed federal ethics watchdogs who have been hounding him and his son, calling them jerks who cant get a real job.
He also insisted the watchdogs keep rich, smart, successful people out of government jobs.
All they want to do is assure that poor, not successful people go into government, Charles Kushner told The Real Deal in an interview published Friday. Because if youre successful, you shouldnt be penalized by stupid ethics watchdogs raising things that are potential.
He went on to complain about attacks and the barrage of negative media against his son, despite the sacrifice Jared Kushner has made as a public servant.
I look at what my kids have sacrificed to go into government, with the only intent of doing good for this country and for the world, and to help people, he said, apparently referring to Jared Kushner and Ivanka Trump, according to the Real Deal. They sacrificed a lot.

rookie cop fired one day after running suspect down with car
Patmon escaped into the street, now sprinting down the yellow line. Saulters accelerated and veered toward him. Another jolt, and then Patmon was over the hood, bouncing off the windshield.
Somehow he never lost his grip on his ball cap, even as he fell face down into the street.
Saulters leaped out of the car. The second officer had already caught up and was straddling Patmon, who lay writhing on the wet pavement.
"We got him," Saulters said.
He reached back inside his car to kill the sirens. Almost instantly, the audio track on his body cam filled with the sounds of people screaming.
A woman had stepped into the street to stare at Patmon, covered in dirt, with two uniformed officers standing over him. "Oh my God," she aid. "Why'd you hit that man?"
Saulters pointed at her. "Stop!" He bent down to help the second officer cuff Patmon, who wouldn't let go of his ball cap. The hat was drawn taut as the officers tried to pry his arms apart.
It had been less than 60 seconds since the impact, but already a throng had gathered at the Iron Triangle. The accounts of eyewitnesses were relayed through the crowd as angry shouts: "He hit the man! He hit the man! He hit the man!"
On the ground, Patmon half-closed his eyes and finally let the officers cuff him.
"You can't hit the man with a car like that!"
"We're going to need crowd control," Saulters said.
"We need, uh, EMS," he added.
Seconds later, a second squad car pulled up. More uniforms joined Saulters and the second officer. A man in a camouflage T-shirt stepped out of the crowd, pulled a lanyard from his jeans and slung a badge around his neck.
"I got him with my car," Saulters explained. "That's what they're yelling about."
Most of the police started making a perimeter, herding the shouters back to the sidewalk. They left Saulters and Patmon to have a sort of conversation in the street.
"Stand up," Saulters said, almost softly. "We're going to put you in the back of this car while we handle this, all right?"
Patmon didn't move.
"You don't want to lay like that, man. It ain't good on your handcuffs."
"It hurts," Patmon said.
"What hurts?" Saulters asked. "From when you hit the ground?"
"You know!" Patmon said.
"Oh, I know. I know what I did. Why'd you run?"
"I don't know. I just did."
Patmon finally sat up, sitting on the curb with his hands bound behind him. Saulters ignored the jeers from all around him, discussing the damage to his front wheel with other officers.
After a minute or so, a woman walked slowly out of the crowd. She passed through the police line and held out a cigarette to Patmon.
She put it in his mouth and lit it, and the officers let him smoke it for a few moments. Then Saulters took it away.
"We can't smoke in the car," he said. "All right?"

It was after midnight at the Mile High Spirits bar near downtown Denver, and things were going well for the man in the middle of the dance floor. Patrons surrounded him and women smiled at him, some with their phones out, as he showed off his freestyle dance moves.
Then, he swung his arms back and squatted, as if to prepare for his next big move. He jumped up, arching his back and swinging his arms above his head. But as he was about to land his backflip, a gun flew out from his holster at the back of his pants. He landed and as he picked up his gun from the floor, it fired.
He tucked his gun back into his holster and walked away from the dance floor, raising both his hands. Patrons began to scatter, and the women who had been smiling at him just seconds earlier stared, a look of open-mouthed shock on their faces.
The incident, which occurred at 12:45 a.m. Saturday, was captured in a 32-second video obtained by ABC affiliate KMGH.

'Quite frankly, it's really deplorable,' Gaskin said. 'It's why we've ended up in a situation where people are talking about travel advisories and African-American groups are less likely to come and do business in our state.'
Last July, the national NAACP issued a travel advisory for Missouri, citing last year's vehicle stop data and other racial concerns in the state.

Scott Pruitt admits top aide helped him search for housing but 'on personal time'
https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/energy-environment/wp/2018/05/16/at-senate-hearing-scott-pruitts-spending-and-ethics-once-again-take-center-stage/?utm_term=.fea8b6400c85Environmental Protection Agency Administrator Scott Pruitt acknowledged Wednesday that one of his top aides helped him search for housing last year a potential violation of federal law but said she had done so on personal time.
The admission came during a Senate budget hearing, which included sharp questions from Democrats about the administrators ethics and spending decisions. Republicans on the Senate Appropriations Interior, Environment and Related Agencies Subcommittee focused largely on the agencys policy actions.
----
At one point, the lawmaker asked Pruitt to provide details on how he had enlisted aide Millan Hupp to help locate local apartment rentals for him last summer. The Washington Post first reported last month that Hupp, who now serves as EPAs head of scheduling and advance, contacted a District real estate firm and individual homeowners to view properties. Pruitts office boosted Hupps salary to $114,590 in March, then reversed the raise after it attracted public scrutiny.
Pruitt, who did not refer to Hupp by name but called her a longtime friend, said that when it came to her assistance, its my understanding that all activity there was on personal time. He added that he did not pay her for this service.
Then thats a gift, thats a violation of federal law, Udall said, noting that subordinates of federal officials are prohibited from providing free services to their bosses.
