Samrob's JournalOur democracy is still on the line if Garland does not indict Trump for at least one of his many
crimes. If our laws mean nothing for those at the top of our government, we have no democracy.
Why can't Abbott be stopped from sending migrants or asylum seekers to blue states?
Why doesn't he send them to the wide open spaces of TX where there is plenty of space and land? Are the governors of recipient states going to do anything about it or are the Mayors of recipient cities planning any kind of litigation? Can a couple of redistricted House seats go with those transported?
Is Cruz running for leadership in the Senate? nt
Maybe now Dems will finally get how important it is to get the base to understand state and local
elections are the foundation of this democracy. Screaming this since 2000. The Dem party needs to spend more time and resources investing in state and local candidates and elections and it should start NOW!
We were headed toward this when Obama won and when Hillary ran in 2016.
Trump and Trumpians changed our course. Biden and American lovers of democracy may have just corrected our course and set us back on track. Tuesday, and I am feeling better.
All hands on deck in the House to raise the debt ceiling before the end of the year. GO Nancy
This is the one thing that will take the wind out of McCarthy's sails AND should be pay back for all the nasty things Mitch and his House buddies did to Obama.
I can't prove it but Liz Cheney saying she could not vote for any election denier was at play
in those red areas that Trump had won before.
I am absolutely no fan of any GOPER except John McCain and Abe Lincoln an they are dead. BUT THANK YOU LIZ.
Looking ahead, Dems. The next big issue to tackle after voting rights is AFFORDABLE HOUSING and
laws to stop the money laundering associated with foreign entities buying up American property and buildings and keeping affordable housing from working families. As fast as these poor quality, cheap material condos and homes are being built they are bought up by speculators and re-sold for outrageous prices to the wealthy. Affordable housing starts across the country is almost zero, while these ugly conclaves are being thrown up all around us. We need a movement comparable to the affordable healthcare movement to tackle the lack of affordable housing issue. Inflation, thy name is unaffordable housing.
I think within the next two election cycles (National and Mid-term) Gen Z will reshape Florida.
We, Dems, should begin right now setting the stage. Every in-humane move by DeSantis needs to get maximum attention across the nation but especially within FL communities. Dems need to be seen as challenging the cruelty but also displaying real help for asylum seekers that are transported without plans by DeSantis for their safety and well-being. The recipient blue cities need to be given re-programmed funds from the red-states that transport them (this would include TX and others) for housing and medical services until regular asylum processes are completed for those transported. All that the Dems are doing to counter these nasty moves by Abbott and DeSantis should be given very visible and constant attention by the media. Biden needs to include remarks about how Dems are countering these nasty moves by GOP Governors.
We probably will not control the initiation of funding for this in the House, but during any conference actions, the Senate should attach amendments that shift funds for these services that are required by the cities receiving these transported asylum seekers. If it can't or won't be done by Congress, Blue state governors should be making very vocal comments about what the red-state governors are doing.
Grab this narrative, Dems, and shape it for yourselves.
