these protests remind me of the "Occupy Wall street" protests of 2011

anyone else reminded of Occupy Wall Street? not stating agreement or non agreement... just commenting on the vibe. and spread from college campus to campus.

protests at Trump's elections were centered around street cornders.
BLM was more city focused/off campus geographically.

OWS was the last set of nationwide protests that developed at college campuses.

The Gateway Pundit, Infamous Conspiracy Blog, Declares Bankruptcy After Suit From Election Workers

The founder of the Gateway Pundit, the infamous conspiracy theory site, announced on Wednesday that the company had declared bankruptcy.

Jim Hoft published a message on the website that read, “TGP Communications, the parent company of The Gateway Pundit, recently made the decision to seek protection under Chapter 11 of the United States Bankruptcy Code in the Southern District of Florida as a result of the progressive liberal lawfare attacks against our media outlet.”

Georgia election workers Ruby Freeman and her daughter, Shaye Moss, sued the Gateway Pundit in December of 2021, alleging that Jim and Joe Hoft, twin brothers, behind the conspiracy theory site engaged in “a campaign of lies” that “instigated a deluge of intimidation, harassment, and threats that has forced them to change their phone numbers, delete their online accounts, and fear for their physical safety.”

The Gateway Pundit saw its traffic soar surrounding the 2020 presidential election as it published story after story parroting then-President Donald Trump’s roundly debunked allegations of election fraud that led to the Jan. 6th attack on the U.S. Capitol.

In January 0f 2020, the Gateway Pundit had some 1.7 million unique readers going into election year. In January of this year, that number had dropped some 54 percent to 813,000 users, according to Comscore data. TGP refutes the ComScore data, saying that the site no longer shares its traffic data with ComScore and instead uses an internal StatCounter, which registered 24 million users in January of 2020 and 55 million in January of 2024.

White South Carolina DJ Gets Off with Reduced Sentence After Pleading Guilty to Sex with Nearly 700 Underage Black Girls

A major sex trafficking case that languished in the South Carolina court system for more than four years concluded anticlimactically last summer when a 46-year-old white disc jockey received a reduced sentence after pleading guilty to 13 felony charges of having sex with children, including hundreds of underage Black girls.

As part of a deal with prosecutors, Jason Roger Pope, once known as “DJ Kidd,” confessed in August 2023 to five counts of sex trafficking of a minor, five counts of criminal sexual conduct with a minor, and three counts of criminal sexual conduct, according to South Carolina Attorney General Alan Wilson.

But instead of Pope being sent away for the rest of his life, Judge Brian Gibbons suspended a 30-year prison term for the defendant in favor of 19 years behind bars — which was a far lighter punishment than prosecutors initially desired for the man who admitted to prostituting and having sex with 693 underage Black girls between 2017 and 2019, while intentionally infecting at least one of his young victims with HIV, prosecutors said.

The judge did order strict probation conditions for Pope following his eventual release from prison, which are designed to protect the public, including a requirement that Pope be monitored around the clock for at least five years by special agents dedicated to supervising sex offenders.

“Several victims had statements presented to the court about how this defendant’s actions affected them,” the South Carolina Attorney General’s Office said previously in a statement, according to local news reports. “They are relieved this chapter is closed and Pope is in prison.”

five dead in OK mass shooting

A man killed his wife and three of his children in an apparent murder-suicide mass shooting at a home in Oklahoma, according to police.

The only survivor was the 10-year-old son who was asleep during the shootings, Oklahoma City police said. The 10-year-old called 911 Monday morning and said "everyone inside the house appeared to be dead," police said at a news conference Tuesday.

Police said they believe Jonathon Candy, 42, "became involved in an altercation" with his wife, 39-year-old Lindsay Candy, and then shot her multiple times.

Jonathon Candy then "systematically" went through the home, shooting and killing three of their children: 18-year-old Dylan, 14-year-old Ethan and 12-year-old Lucas, according to police.

actor Terry Carter dies at age 95. Boomers will recognize his face

Terry Carter, Barrier-Breaking Actor and Documentarian, Dies at 95
He was the only Black actor on “Combat!” and “The Phil Silvers Show,” then made well regarded documentaries on luminaries like Duke Ellington and Katherine Dunham.

Terry Carter, who broke color barriers onstage and on television in the 1950s and ’60s and later produced multicultural documentaries on the jazz luminary Duke Ellington and the dancer-choreographer Katherine Dunham, died on Tuesday at his home in Midtown Manhattan. He was 95.

His death was confirmed by his son, Miguel Carter DeCoste.

Mr. Carter was raised in a bilingual home next door to a synagogue in a predominantly Italian neighborhood in Brooklyn. His best friend was the future jazz great Cecil Taylor. In his first stage role, at 9, Mr. Carter played the Portuguese explorer Vasco da Gama on a voyage of discovery.

And in a wayfaring six-decade career, he was a merchant seaman, a jazz pianist, a law student, a television news anchor, a familiar character on network sitcoms, an Emmy-winning documentarian, a good will ambassador to China, a longtime expatriate in Europe — and a reported dead man; in 2015, rumors that he had been killed were mistaken. It was not him but a much younger Terry Carter who had died in a hit-and-run accident in Los Angeles by a pickup truck driven by the rap mogul Marion “Suge” Knight.

---------

In the 1950s, when many American entertainments were racially segregated and hundreds of actors had been blacklisted during Communist witch-hunts by congressional investigators, Mr. Carter met the veteran actor Howard Da Silva, whose Hollywood and television career had stalled in 1951 after he invoked his Fifth Amendment rights before the House Committee on Un-American Activities.

“It was Howard who talked me into becoming an actor — he’s the one who changed my life,” Mr. Carter said in an interview for this obituary in 2018. “I quit law school and began studying at Howard’s acting school. I think he called it the Mobile Theater Workshop.”

Mr. Carter appeared in several Black-cast stage productions, both on Broadway and Off Broadway, before breaking into television as the only Black character on “The Phil Silvers Show” (1955-59), playing Pvt. Sugie Sugarman in 92 half-hour episodes of the CBS comedy about an Army con man, Sergeant Bilko, and his motor pool crew.

Gaza protests roil universities from California to New York; tensions grow at Humboldt, Berkeley

Officials shut down the campus of Cal Poly Humboldt on Monday night after masked pro-Palestinian protesters occupied an administrative building and barricaded the entrance as Gaza-related demonstrations roiled campuses across the nation.

Three students were arrested after law enforcement officers wearing helmets and riot shields descended on the public university in Arcata, in rural Northern California, and clashed with demonstrators who had set up tents inside Siemens Hall and erected a banner that said, “STOP THE GENOCIDE.”

“Free, Free Palestine,” supporters chanted outside the building. “Long Live Resistance!”

As sprawling pro-Palestinian protests and encampments escalate on university campuses across the United States, administrators are reacting with more forceful discipline as they try to balance pro-Palestinian students’ free speech rights with concerns for safety and other students’ counter claims of harassment and disruption.

IVF clinic accidently kills embryos, implants them anyway as coverup

Nine couples are suing an Orange County IVF clinic after they claim the clinic killed their embryos and tried to cover up the mistake.

According to the couples’ lawyers at Marcereau Law Group and Ikuta Hemesath LLP, Ovation Fertility made mistakes at its Newport Beach laboratory, then “knowingly implanted dead embryos into would-be mothers and then tried to conceal the laboratory mistakes that had poisoned the embryos,” their lawyers said in a news release.

Specifically, the laboratory used “lethal hydrogen peroxide instead of distilled water during pre-implantation dethawing procedures in January 2024,” then “attempted a cover-up that sought to trick patients into signing waivers of legal claims and non-disparagement agreements,” the plaintiffs claim.

“Ovation Fertility only disclosed the incidents after the couples’ fertility doctors questioned why there was a 100 percent failure rate for the embryos that had been thawed over the two-week pre-implantation period, when the success rate was normally above 75 percent,” the release explained.

In the meantime, couples “blamed themselves and their bodies, some going so far as to endure risky and painful medical procedures, such as hysteroscopies and biopsies, to determine what went wrong,” the attorneys said.

Fullerton residents Brooke Berger and Bennett Hardy are among the plaintiffs after the error “destroyed our last two embryos,” Berger said.
