2. some in my extended family are advocating the "let them break it" gambit:

they argue that perhaps the wisest long-term strategy would be to let the republicans win everything, let them destroy the safety net, and then the democratic party can come back with a vengeance with a rage and fury not seen since the 30's.

i don't care for that approach, arguing that we tried that with shrub, and although we did manage to get a black president out of it, we're hardly better off in the scheme of things vs. where we might have been with 8 years of gore in charge.

but interestingly enough, this article implies that rmoney is signing on for that exact approach -- getting the legislative changes he wants knowing it will be politically unpopular. though perhaps he's only thinking he alone will pay the price, as opposed to the entire republican party.


an intersting question for those late-night sophomore bull sessions. personally, i prefer winning at every opportunity.
