I can find a number of genuinely decent conservatives, though, who would be very touched and are not at all like the Nazis, without going far either. We live in the deep south surrounded by conservatives, and I'm guessing more than the national 24% or so are still Republicans.

That said, let's toot our own horn: Winton was a strong liberal. Even if very few of us will ever meet the heroic standard he set, the liberal principles he still epitomizes are ours.
