We already have socialism. That is really overlooked and even obscured. Many industries are the recipients of socialism to the degree that the amount of that borders on the state/corporate merging as per Fascism.

The problem is about WHO gets the socialism. If the people are the recipients it is bad, communist, destructive and whatever jingoistic tag the detractors want to use. If big businesses receive it, (and copiously) they have newspeak terms to distract us from that fact.

In fact, not only do large corporations, etc., receive it they are able to both utilize our public infrastructure to do business while also having no liability for the overall negative impact that their businesses have on that infrastructure or the environment, locally and globally.

Of course, if you look that up you should be able to find plenty of material that goes into that in depth.
