Reporter Kurt Eichenwald blasts Ari Fleischer over 9/11 ‘truther’ accusation

Tuesday on CNN, reporter Kurt Eichenwald confronted Ari Fleischer after the former White House Press Secretary accused him of believing that George W. Bush was behind the September 11 terror attacks.

“Now, I am kind of angry at Ari today, because the first thing he did was send out a tweet calling me a ’9/11 truther,’” Eichenwald said, while Fleisher nodded in agreement, “meaning one of those people who says George Bush orchestrated 9/11. And that is the kind of garbage, the kind of empty headed garbage, that has prevented history from taking place here.”

But Fleischer insisted that Eichenwald was merely preaching a “cleaned-up version of trutherism” because his column in the New York Times didn’t criticize former President Bill Clinton. Fleischer described Eichenwald as a “rabid partisan.”

“It is about what did the documents I obtained and saw show,” Eichenwald said. “I’m not going to run around and say, ‘Gee, I have a new story, but Ari Fleischer might be afraid or upset that I’m not spinning it enough in order to bring in Clinton.’ Did Clinton make mistakes? Absolutely. It has nothing to do with this.”
