I get that America has become something of a . . . uh . . . sedentary country, but no one's waging the grand underground war with Netflix running in the background.
I was at a holiday party last night discussing religion with a friend (he's very churchy - I'm not). And it got down to how humans need religion in some form. Not necessarily a sky God or anything. Just a belief system they'll place a great deal of importance and subsume identity into. Where the rational will be shut off in favor of the irrational and the faith-based. I argued that I think a lot of ideologies - particularly on social media - displace out of objectivity and become as wild as anything else out there.

Yeah. So, anyway. Counterpoint: It's just social media, everyone will live. 99% of what 99% of the people there do is not important and will not be remembered three days from now. It's a daytime distraction on par with interactive soap opera.
