A few German Nazis that came to the US lived here as good citizens, with jobs and families, for decades before being outed as former camp guards (or whatever), only to be deported in tears. (Their official crime: They came here and didn't have proper authorization to immigrate because they lied on their documentation.)

Now, at the same time there's a sampling problem. How many hundreds or thousands of Nazis have you seen interviewed when they were in a position to show regret or remorse?

I've see the few German Nazis that came to the US and who lived .... Too small a sample to be meaningful, were it a random sample; but it wasn't a random sample, it was geriatric Nazis put in a position of being deported and leaving the families behind when they had no kin in their homeland--both a great reason to lie, or perhaps to reconsider, or maybe just be in the spotlight and saw what they thought in '48.
