The DOJ is still searching for hundreds, perhaps over a thousand people who stormed the Capital. [View all]

The DOJ has already arrested over 900 people. Hundreds have been put on trial, many convicted. Including people who were convicted for sedition. There are more sedition trials taking place right now.

The amount of time, manpower, resources, to track all these people down, indict, put on trial is enormous, unprecedented. At the same time the DOJ started an investigation into the fake elector scheme. Plus the DOJ has to conduct all the other business of the DOJ across the country. They also just received all the evidence from the committee. That is a lot of evidence to go through. The DOJ also had to start an investigation into the secret document investigation.

For me it was no surprise Garland hired someone like Smith to handle part of his large, unprecedented investigation.

In my opinion the DOJ have done a very good job in a short period of time for the amount of people they are investigating, indicting , convicting. For investigations this large, this unprecedented, less than two years of investigating is not a long time. It just seems that way.
