7. There's a small town about 40 miles from where I live.

It has a pretty little lake in the middle of it. Just before the passing of the civil rights act the town voted to ban all swimming in the lake… for everyone. They would rather melt in the southern summer heat than be forced to swim with “those people.” Two years ago they passed a law to allow swimming in the lake again. So yeah, I believe it.
