For the most part, I don’t think the results of 2010, 2014, 2016 was due to the “purity politics” of disenchanted progressives staying home.

2010 was almost certainly backlash against the first elected Black president, combined with the typical midterm losses of the incumbent party.

2016 was the chance for revenge - against Obama, and against HRC after 30 years of vilification in the media- every toothless slack jawed yokel came out of their trailers to make the libs cry.

Instead of looking back and pointing fingers, I say we should focus on maximizing turnout among the most powerful block of untapped voters in the country: young voters.

If young voter turnout is increased even just 10% over 2020 numbers, Dems will win the WH, keep the senate, and flip the house back to blue.
