of "What are you complaining about? We were only joking" to make the "triggered" look weak. Helps them get away with it.

It reminds me of the Dukes Of Hazzard song: just some good ol' boys, never meanin' no harm.

I wonder how much of this strategy trickled down from mil/spy psyops. There are thinktanks galore busily astroturfing.
