(17 posts)Both the drug plan and the supplement plan are "FOR PROFIT" plans. In this context, profits that they make would otherwise go to care for patients. That is why supplement rates tend to grow so high, so fast. The Medicare Advantage plans are really Medicare Disadvantage plans. They cost the Medicare program much more money than just giving that money to Traditional Medicare to expand services. Additionally, if you should chose to go to a Medicare Advantage plan, then decide to try to return to Traditional Medicare, depending on the state you live in you may be required to undergo Underwriting to get your supplement which can result in even higher rates.
There is much more I could say, but let this suffice for now. Please be cautious in this decision.
