who is a retired Army MSgt himself (30 years, retired 1993) is in full agreement. He's what I call an "Eisenhower Republican." He's fond of saying, "I didn't leave the Republican Party -- the Republican Party left me." The last Republican presidential candidate he voted for was George H.W. Bush.
