They use the original work done by journalists at real news organizations, but TV is show business and commentary. Commentary is the cash cow, and it's what the general public eats up. Real news scrupulously reported, verified and presented with a ton of contexts doesn't excite Americans.
How many people have read any Pulitzer Prize-winning stories? Ever. Here are the 2023 winners, if you'd like to read one or two.
How many people tune into cable network show-business "news" commentary every night? Millions upon millions.
