I think that she might have had been pretty sure that McConnell would not permit a hearing on a Democratic supreme court nominee. At the time it would have seemed crazy, but in hind sight we can see that this unprecedented ploy is what he actually did. The supreme court justices are some of the most well-connected individuals in the country. I think that it is possible that she thought that McConnell could hold out for a few months, but since it looked like Hillary would win, either the Senate might be in Democratic hands or he couldn't hold out for four years.

I generally agree. We all make some wrong decisions in life. In Trump's case though, I may make an exception.
