And it was Israel that attacked a consulate in Syria. If Iran hit a Western consulate, we would rain down holy hell fire on them. Right now Russia is having a field day at the UN due to our own hypocrisy and believe me, the non western world is taking notice. Bibi really fucked up here, unless you are his apologist.
And sure, they have been a state sponsor of terror ever since the revolution that was the cause and effect by who again? Add to that, Iran informed Turkey of the coming attack, who then informed the USA. Why do you think Biden hit the White House before it happened? They were given a heads up and no doubt informed Israel. And this would have never happened if they allowed a condemnation at the Security Council to go through, once we, UK and France blocked it, it left them no choice. Finally, they only targeted military installations (they did hit one of Israel's nuke facilities) and they were spread out. As if they wanted Israel to shoot down most of the drones and missiles.
As for Hamas, for a long time they were supported mainly by quiet Sunni groups, which they are. Iran is Shite and only started supporting them in recent history. If there was Palestinian State, doubt that marriage would last.
This is not a black and white situation. This is a cumulation of a lot of hubris and forced errors that stretch back over half a century. I still marvel at Iran and Russia being allies now, two nations who spent centuries trying kill each other and yet, here we are.
