(187 posts)Dear President Biden,
Heres hoping you are well on your way to recovery from COVID. Im just weighing in as an old woman. (Yes, Im old, but not as old as you. Im married to someone who IS as old as you, someone I not only love but respect for the wisdom and experience with which age has endowed him.)
I congratulate you (and First Lady Jill) not only for being able, but willing, to get up each morning, and go out and work for the American people. Quite frankly, I wish the burden didnt rest so heavily and squarely on your shoulders, but it does.
Because America is, at least for now, a democracy, I feel that those who urged you to step aside, or step down, have done the same thing the former guy did when he sought to overturn an election with an insurrection. We (the voters) knew you were old when we voted for you, and to have monied and/or powerful people now seek to disenfranchise us is anti-democratic. I respect the decision that you've made, knowing that you have always put the country's interest first. I'm so grateful you have salvaged a tattered nation and set us on the road to progress. Thank you (and your wife) for all you've done.
