Folks, the Fortune headline about Musk backing out of his pledge to Trump is WRONG. [View all]

All Musk did was correct someone wrongly saying the pledge was directly to Trump.

Musk pointed out he's giving to the pro-Trump super PAC he created, not to Trump.

He was never going to be able to give that much money directly to the Trump campaign.

DU thread responding to the incompetent Fortune headline creating this wrong impression:

Musk also said he doesn't subscribe to a cult of personality. OF COURSE he said that. He would always say that.

It isn't news, and neither is his saying he's donating to a super PAC. Fortune treating it as news is incompetent journalism.

There have been unsourced stories that Trump is less than happy with Vance, and if that's true and he finds some way to replace Vance, that would probably mean less money for Trump from Musk and other tech bros.

But Musk reiterated his unhappiness with Biden's policies, which will continue with Harris.
