The Olympic boxer isn't a man and never has been. [View all]

This was the outrage diversion story of the day in RW world to not talk about what Trump did yesterday.

This is not RW propaganda, this is dispelling RW propaganda.

My daughter and I were talking about this tonight (she brought it up) and she was adamant “They are just saying words.” I’ve learned a long time ago that if she is that sure it’s because she knows what she’s talking about.

My first hint of the twisting on this story was that it was a first round fight. This wasn’t well into the competition. This happens early on.

The source below is Heavy.com. I find that and Fast Company and Open Culture to have very well thought out pieces.

Algerian boxer Imane Khelif
Before we get into anything else, she was born in rural Algeria. How do they determine the gender of a baby there? The same way everyone else does, they look at it.
She fought in the 2020 Olympics getting to the quarterfinals. She has fought for several years so she’s nothing new.
This arose from a shady boxing operation (I know) called the International Boxing Association (IBA) that is not recognized by the IOC - “following years of governance problems, a lack of financial transparency and many perceived instances of corruption in judging and refereeing.”
The IBA allowed Russians to fight under the Russian flag in 2023 despite IOC sanctions.
Testing. The IBA says Khelif and another boxer “did not have a “testosterone examination” but instead a “separate and recognized test.” But the IBA refused to explain the test it used and said the specifics “remain confidential.”
This whole thing maybe part of IBA’s squabble with the IOC.

Khelif is not transgender nor has she ever claimed to be anything but a female. She is a female and always has been.
