When in Congress, Tim Walz did a favor for me. [View all]
Before the Affordable Care Act was signed into law by then President Barack Obama, then Congressman Eric Cantor at a town hall admonished a woman without much Health Insurance, going through Chemo for stage 3 cancer.
Eric Cantor told this woman to sell off all her possessions, sell her house to pay for her chemo treatment. When the money ran out, rely on charity to help her. I was so mad, I sat down and wrote a long detailed letter to Eric Cantor. I spared no words.
It just so happened I was at a fundraiser for Tim in the latter part of 2009 at the home of Doctors friends of mine in Rochester. I asked Tim to deliver my letter on the House floor or in Cantor's office and then get back to me as to his response. I asked him to stand there and have Cantor read it in his presence. Tim got back me and said that Cantor mumbled something derogatory about my letter and ripped it up. Needless to say, Tim had some words for Eric Cantor as well.
The ACA became law in 2010 despite then House Minority Leader, John Boehner saying on the House floor, "Hell no you can't" about voting for the Bill.
