3. I used to run into him all the time. This is going back maybe 25 years.

Very smart, very slimy, basically a genius frat boy nerd who found his niche, used his smarts to make himself a lot of money, and said flat out he was a gun fore hire to the highest bidder. The Republicans were the highest bidder, and he has worked for them ever since.

He is NOT an idiot, and he knows what the score is, but he never forgets where his money is coming from, and acts accordingly.
