(4,527 posts)45. By the time I was in my teens all of our relatives had moved to
        California. They used to say that Texas was twenty years behind California, and Amarillo was 20 years behind most of Texas. Unfortunately that is what my dad liked about it so there we stayed. Growing up, I worked since 14, within the first hour after starting a new job I was always asked what church I went to. I would say that I was Catholic and more than once I was asked why I wasn't a Christian.
