1. Yes! And saved the hostages.

Looking back and knowing what we know now, Biden knew he had to fight back from that bad debate and restore faith in his ability to lead the country in order to save those hostages. He had to remain insistent he was still planning to run in 2024 to ensure the hostage deal went forward. Imagine if he'd had stepped down when all these alleged "savvy" Dems (hello Nancy) were pressuring him to?.

Some try to say that the renewed enthusiasm with the Kamala/Harris ticket validates those calling for him to step down, but I say there is a right way and a wrong way to achieve something. Those who were outspoken in their support of Biden: Rep. Jasime Crockett, the Congressional Black Caucus, and others (including Tim Walz), did it the right way. Those who leaked private House meetings to the press, or went public in their cries for Biden to step down (Adam Schiff, Sherrod Brown, and others) did it the wrong way.

I strongly believe Biden would have done the right thing regardless, but he understood that he had to make the decision from a position of strength and not weakness. So he fought, and he did it with so many cowardly Congressional Dems stabbing him in the back.
