The difference between the two parties is the republican party is much whiter, male, straight, and Christian than the Democratic party. Straight white Christian males have always received more credit, passes, and reverence by American institutions such as the corporate press/media. Republicans get the white man's pass. Democrats get the stranger's scrutiny. The double standard in American politics is the same double standard that's existed in America for centuries. Even when the Democrat is a white male.
