Americans worship a very opinionated God. [View all]
I never would have believed that religion could become such a pernicious force in American politics, but it has. People are convinced they know who and what God hates - and the God who hates is petty, vengeful, and vindictive. Not all religion is like this. But this distortion is louder than any other voice.
The heart of the Christian message is supposed to be love and forgiveness. If God is the creator of all human life, then the nature of God is inclusive. All are loved.
