36. Let the new generation represent...
Thu Feb 6, 2025, 01:31 PM
Feb 2025

I know some of you might take issue with me for not having a stronger presence here, but I’ve been a paid member for years (since the site first launched) and left right after the hack in November 2015, just after Trump was elected.

That said, I've been noticing a troubling trend where some of you seem hesitant to let younger voices take the reins. It's disappointing to see. By dismissing voices like AOC or Jasmine Crockett as "too young," you’re effectively reinforcing the same old patterns and giving the establishment a pass. The younger generation should already be the face and the voice of the party. Frankly, this should’ve happened yesterday, but some of you still insist they need to "pay their dues." Enough of that.

We sat on our hands in 2016 by running Hillary. I know you’ll cut me off and tell me it was "her turn," and how she was great for the party. I get that. But as someone who’s been a long-time member and lurker, a Gen Xer, and someone who lives in a red state, I’ll tell you—Hillary was tainted by the '90s, and no amount of campaigning was going to change that. Yes, I voted for her, but I knew even back then that we were fighting an uphill battle because of the baggage she carried.

We had a real chance with Bernie Sanders, and though I know he’s not the favorite here, I truly believe we'd be in a much better place today if we’d backed him. What really struck me as disappointing was seeing how many of you shot down a poster just yesterday for advocating for young leadership. You even told him to post about it elsewhere—like in the “A Way Forward” forum that was recently set up.

People, wake up. The only ones who can really push back and fight the fight effectively are the younger generation. They understand how the game is played in today’s political landscape. It’s time for the current leadership to step aside and make way for the future.

Here's something we should all watch. I cannot post it in video yet so I will post it here.
