(498 posts)I agree with you completely, our messaging is absolute garbage and it has been for a while.
The future of messaging isn't in the politicians or MSM, it's in individual influencers. Meidas Touch is sort of approaching this, but the right wing presence still outnumbers the Meidas podcasts by a hundred to one. These influencers take every little thing any Democrat says and dissects it down to the pixel, tearing everything said to absolute shreds. Meidas does what you're advocating, speaking "The truth", but no one who watches Meidas would disagree anyways. Right wingers pull the algorithm by virtue of controversy and clicks and have created a sort of macrocosmic entity in the "Influencer-sphere", where they all act and react and react to reactions of each other, sucking more and more casual viewers into the Right-Wing Influencer bubble. This in turn only amplifies the message, makes "Democrats Bad" both trendy and a financial boon, and casuals looking for entertainment get the message "Democrats bad" driven into their head a hundred times a day.
I know that's a bit, but it's what's happening. Mainstream Media gets 3 million views a day. The right-wing Infosphere gets, just in my top ten sources, about 270 million views a day from all over the world. And the "Right Wing Reactor" has spread to every other country on the planet, where you have "Khazakhs React to Democrat Meltdowns" and other such ilk, oftentimes needing English translators but still getting a hundred thousand views.
It comes across as a very grim truth, but a truth nonetheless. There's a worldwide industry supporting Right-Wing reactions every day that rivals the population of our entire country. Nothing we have on the left currently comes close, and I don't see a way to counter it at all.
