32. It's not just texts...

It’s the freaking EMAILS! You make the mistake of signing one petition and suddenly, the DNC has shared your email addy with EVERY Dem in the country. I’m sick of the begging. Bad enough it’s from Florida politicians but I get them from EVERY STATE, right down to local races! They all want “whatever you can give!”

Hello… I’m in Florida. The cost of living here is ridiculous and I haven’t seen a real raise in over three years. My son lost his job thanks to two major hurricanes and is having trouble even finding jobs to apply to—especially since Milton crushed his car and insurance wouldn’t cover it and FEMA is still pondering it… My car has been out of action since Helene and I’m barely getting by on the freaking bus. Factor in that my ex stiffed me on 17 of the 20 years of alimony he was ordered to pay and I lost my house and can’t afford a lawyer to go after him for recompense.

How about YOU send ME money—or at least do your job so that we don’t wind up on the streets wondering how we’ll survive at all? No one is representing us. I can’t afford to send a single $5 donation to a local politician, let alone $5 to hundreds and hundreds of politicians who’ll never impact our lives here. Even Bernie and AOC and now Katie Porter send me MULTIPLE emails daily, begging for dollars.

It’s depressing. These people represent a giant sucking hole that will never be satisfied, promising that if we help them win, we’ll all be better off.

I haven’t been better off in YEARS. How about you do something that will impact our lives? Maybe you all send ME $5 so we can eat this month. The house we rented for almost 8 years has been sold out from under us and we’re barely making it since we had to move in October, and it’d be thrilling to be able to do a legit grocery trip and eat something besides granola and frozen burritos because that’s all my son can carry on his bike, which he rides WITH ONE LEG.

I just deleted over 80 emails—after deleting 40-some on my lunch break. I’m getting sick of having to send these to the junk folder because the DNC continues to share my contact info with EVERYONE (no doubt charging them for the favour). At least texts can be stopped by simply replying STOP!

I think our Party has a management problem. Just a guess but I think the folks in control don't want new blood. jalan48 Mar 2025 #20
IMO it's a bit more complicated than that. The party is very diverse and has no one person LymphocyteLover Mar 2025 #29
Yes, that is probably the case though I'm not sure a diverse group can stop Fascism without a strong leader and message. jalan48 Mar 2025 #36
