I will not use Act Blue, although I realize it serves a purpose. For people making modest contributions, and checks are not a convenient option, it makes sense. But years ago, they would automatically check the make it monthly box without my consent, and called me an idiot for asking them to stop. Plus, they, together with their credit card partners, take about 8% out of all contributions to divide among themselves. If some tight race is costing $10 million, our candidate cant afford to give up $800,000 for Visa and Act Blue to play with. I ALWAYS send checks.
I also get the barrage of pushy, offensive emails. I even got one from some telemarketer claiming to be raising money for Gabby Giffords and her gun control PAC. I said that Gabby and Mark have my email and my phone numbers, so they can call me any time they like. I havent heard back from that one yet 😛
