They think they are being tough and intimidating and manly.

They actually are being abusive and exposing themselves as fake men: all rippling muscles but so muscle bound they can hardly move.

T{f}ucker Carlson said it on one of his podcasts (I think from Moscow) and repeated it on stage at some tRump rally before the election.
