Also, somewhere out there an independent truck driver lost a good chunk of income from reduced cargo. That led to a diesel supplier losing sales and potentially laying off more people.

Disruptions in any area of a supply chain tend to have ripple effects that impact everyone whether we know it or not. Many many businesses will wonder why their sales went down even though they weren't impacted by tariffs and never raised prices....
