(1,646 posts)If they just run a store and keep politics out of it, then you can shop there if you like.
We had a local jewelry store that had loads of Bush signs up around the store. They almost closed down because people stopped shopping there, and told them why. The owners were upset, they evidently thought they'd do better.
A local plant nursery/garden/landscape place had done the same. Huge Bush crap all over the fences, the doors and so on. Business dropped off dramatically. The signs came down, and none went up at the next election, not local or national.
If we make it known that this is not acceptable in a business, it will stop. We can't change their minds personally, but we can make them think twice about how they run their businesses.
Oh, I don't patronize stores with the Jeebus fish, either. Nothing about Christianity, or any other religion, or I take my business elsewhere. I made a comment at a local thrift store run by a charity that was selling signs and bumper stickers about Jesus Saves or something, about what did it say in the book of Matthew? They no longer sell those things. Was it just me, or did enough people make it clear this was not acceptable? No idea, but it's nice to not have that mess in my face when I go in.
