(10,729 posts)He worked for Bernie Sanders first campaign and was AOC's chief of staff. He's been a fixture in the progressive wing for the past decade.
He was a software engineer. Went to Harvard for computer science. I have friends in the Bay Area who are also software engineers and "tech millionaires" who basically pay $1.5 million for two bedroom townhouses.
The term is intentionally meant to imply he's running around with massive wealth. It's like when Andrew Yang was called a tech millionaire. Dude was worth like $2 million dollars. That's not a lot for Silicon Valley, particularly when you factor in the cost of living.
Pelosi is more or less keeping her seat warm for her daughter. Dynasties among wealthy families is not a characteristic I find appealing in democratic or Democratic politics.
Does he have a chance? LOL. Probably not with the machine in this city. Ah well. I dig him. Plus, having hot politicians never hurt anyone.
TLDR: He's not trying to buy a seat. He put the work in.
