In reply to the discussion: I have ended a friendship with a MAGA [View all]kwolf68

So my friend is in rural Virginia, which is where I grew up. I live in Pittsburgh now and all our friends here are interesting and intelligent. There is even a Liberal group of people who get together with now and then at each other's house just to hang out and have food or drink. Wife and I went to a No Kings rally here too. I have always been politically engaged, but that is the very first time I've been to a political event like that. Just felt I needed to do it. Wife advertised on Facebook we went and I responded. Not backing down from these bastards anymore. Hell before that we had gone to a Pride event. Two of our closest friends are a gay couple and I love those guys so much. I'd be insane if anyone ever hurt either and the fascists are trying to hurt them. I was happy to goto the pride event and had as much fun there as the No Kings thing, since it was significantly smaller and there was a religious nutjob "protesting" we were kinda laughing and making fun of him.

Yep, it's like cleaning out the garage. Cathartic and the lack of stress inducing clutter will prove relaxing.

The Facebook and X battlefield has been lost to disinformation and the malignantly cruel and stupid among us.

Yeah, I'm with you. I haven't seen the point in being friends with conservatives whatsoever since the early 2000s.

Been there. Similar situation. It's hard, but you have to put your mental health first.

For the last ten years my New Year's resolution has been to keep fidiots and jerkholes out of my life.

The only friend I had who I now think has probably completely been swallowed by MAGA
