gun collecting - really doesn't have anything to do with 'planning'. Ego, self aggrandizement - maybe a bit of fetishism, fantasy, cos-play, perhaps. But an actual 'game plan' (or even intent)? Most of the time - no. And also, no. It is really kind of rare to see any kind of outside 'financial backing' as any kind of factor with these characters.
