The over arching drive of the American experience has been the search to find and remedy the excess cruelties of our past.

Unfortunately, we find ourselves in an era of retrenchment, when populist movements are thriving based on selfishness and greed and other deadly sins. The middle of the 20th Century brought us some of the most enlightened ideas in modern politics, never fully or properly implemented of course because of RW foot dragging and stubborness. Since Reagan, the efforts to repeal the New Deal have grown and are now dismantling all of that.
