Still, Alaska is the only fairly red state
where a Democrat has been elected to statewide office in the recent past
(which as I understand it, their one congressional seat IS--- hope I have that right...)

I disagree with you, of all the presumed "red states",
I think Alaska remains one of our best chances to win such a statewide election--
ESPECIALLY after the effects of the BBB have kicked in!
