Alienating your progressive-leaning customer base on a global scale is never a good business strategy, but he went there anyway. And assuming that having coughed up $250 million plus in cold campaign cash would automatically spare his company from a wave of punitive anti-renewable energy policies was not too brilliant either. Guess he didn't see this coming?
