114. I share your frustration, Calimary.

It’s especially hard to feel positive on a day meant to celebrate our freedom from royal rule only to find our country ruled by a self-styled king who is allowed by Congress and the Supreme Court to do almost anything he wants. But I’m a tough old bird and I plan to see the end of Trump’s rule and the end of Republican malfeasance. You are younger than I, but I suspect you have some toughness, too. Most of us do not reach this age without some hardships and serious disappointments, and we need to remember that we survived those hardships and maybe adjusted to a different and better life as a result.

I will celebrate my country with friends today, not for what it is now under Trump but for what it can be with the right leadership and the involvement of people like us on DU working to support and elect the next generation of Democratic leaders.
