(187 posts)but we almost ended up in the same place but for a narrow victory. Canada is not out of the woods yet but we have a fighting chance. What I want to say to you is that everyday I purposely look at content that makes me feel better, cute animal videos, funny comedy videos, or a peaceful beach background video on youtube. I do not read the news first thing in the day or at all on Saturdays and Sundays. When I see bad news headlines, I skip it until I feel I can emotionally handle what the news is delivering. I protect my mental state so that I can be there for myself and for others. My best friend is fighting cancer and she is a young mom, I need to be there for her and I can't be if I'm consumed by what is happening down south or next door.
In short, I work on my mental health every single day so that I can be there for my family (my 87 year old mom considers herself a radical liberal for the first time in her life) and my friends. I try to consume small bits of bad news content buffered by large amounts of happy, calm, peaceful content.
I'm not sure any of these suggestions will help you but I hope they give you a glimmer of light to a brighter frame of mind. Wishing you all the best and just know, you are not alone, so many are in your place and many people from all over the world do have people like you in their prayers. I am merely one of them.
