Did not have a safe. Had to carry our physical passports everywhere and left the copy at the lodging. Came in handy when we were driving to get dinner in Germany and there was a checkpoint. We were stunned.

A day earlier we had pedaled right into Germany on the bike trail and never gave it a moment’s consideration.
