2. IIRC, LBJ's father once planted a whole grove of pecan trees on similar land. All washed away in a flood.

Apparently, if you live in TX Hill Country floods are a part of life. Not exactly predictable when they'll happen, but that they'll happen is a certainty.

When you see a sign like this, you should think two things:



1) Someone thought it was necessary to post a warning, probably after the last time the flood level was well above 9 feet;
2) Stay off this road. Find a detour. Any detour.

I spent only two years in San Antonio. I found the flood gauges well above the roof of my car at many off-ramps just too unsettling.
