7. Gutting The Crews

While floods turn the heartland to slush,
The gov redirects with a hush.
They gutted the crews
Who forecast the news,
To build camps in the Everglades’ brush.

The waters rose fast in the night,
But no warnings, no sirens in sight.
Their funds went instead
To cage fear and dread,
While the drowned slipped away without fight.

They drained all the funds meant to save,
For a swamp-side detention enclave.
“Alligator Alcatraz,”
Built on fear and false laws,
While floodwaters buried the brave.

While storms tore through counties and towns,
The bosses just played for the clowns.
They bought ICE and decay,
Let the forecastors stray,
Then watched as the heartland drowned.
