(37,603 posts)Herding people into a gas chamber is, in most jurisdictions, first degree murder. Sending people to a miserable location which may, or may not, be in the path of a future hurricane is at most negligent homicide. They are different levels of intent.
And, more to the point, using the name of Auschwitz-Birkenau - the most deadly deadly concentration camps - offends those whose religious, cultural, and ancestors were murdered there.
While I am not willing to pretend there are not terrifying similarities between Trump and Hitler, or to avoid labeling the Florida concentration camp for what it is, I am also not willing to point those similarities out by using a name I have been told is offensive and that does not describe what is currently going on there.
