31. I think I understand it.

When this is over*, there needs to be accountability. Those who gave illegal directives and those who carried them out must be brought to justice. We need to show the free world and future generations that authoritarianism is not allowed.

We’ve been here several times before. Republicans do something evil, and instead of being held accountable, the Democratic leadership and pundits declare some variation of “we need to look forward, not backward”. Since there have never been any consequences, the Republicans will go even further the next time they decide to seize the levers of power.

Rinse. Lather. Repeat.

*I refuse to entertain any other possibility.
