In reply to the discussion: Stop talking about Epstein [View all]AntiFascist
(13,601 posts)44. I suspect that Trump was initially working with Epstein to develop "kompromat"...
for his own purposes. He learned how to acquire dirt on powerful people from Roy Cohn and use it to blackmail people for one of his real estate projects. Here's an article with a whole lotta dirt on Cohn and how it relates to Epstein's blackmail ring:
Kerrs revelations about Cohn, Fraser and others in the US as well as their links to Europe, chime darkly with the research about child-abuse networks undertaken by Whitney Webb. She asserts that Cohn acted as a sexual blackmailer as part of a Cold War network of intelligence services which acted in concert with elements of the mafia. Her insights would certainly help explain how Cohn evaded the attention of the police for his abuse of cocaine, minors and his exploitation of male prostitutes despite making countless influential enemies in New York, especially in politics and law enforcement.
Webb has unearthed evidence which she presents as that of a longstanding sexual blackmail network, set up by the Mafia and later involving Cohn alongside US and other intelligence services. In more recent times this group has connections to Jeffrey Epstein.
...
The Epstein case even if it has no historical connection to Roy Cohn demonstrates that blackmail predicated upon child sex abuse is probably still a covert tool of the darker elements of the Wests intelligence services.
...
Is the Epstein case going to cause a problem (for confirmation hearings)? Acosta had been asked. Acosta had explained, breezily, apparently, that back in the day hed had just one meeting on the Epstein case. Hed cut the non-prosecution deal with one of Epsteins attorneys because he had been told to back off, that Epstein was above his pay grade. I was told Epstein belonged to intelligence and to leave it alone, he told his interviewers in the Trump transition, who evidently thought that was a sufficient answer and went ahead and hired Acosta. (The Labor Department had no comment when asked about this.)

If anything comes out, Trump will have wasted a lot of money paying someone to be quiet no doubt.

Hmm, what if Trump wasn't a client of Epstein's--what if he was a business partner?
